Approach: Inspired by our love of hiking, Trailside is pleasantly earthy and easy to enjoy. A darker roast, for those who seek a traditional flavor profile.
Cup Profile: Bold dark chocolate notes are met with the warming quality of nutmeg. As the cup cools delicate notes of pecan and vanilla become more prominent.
Being that Trailside is a dark roast, it tends to be more soluble in water, meaning the ideal length of extraction will be less than the majority of medium roasted coffees.
The goal is to produce a full-bodied coffee with a pleasing array of chocolate, nut, and spice qualities.
Under extraction will lead to a “woody” tasting cup that lacks body, while over extraction will produce a coffee with little to no acidity and underwhelming sweetness, providing only unpleasant earth notes.
